Parikrama's Ode to the Geek

Commissioned by Microsoft, Parkikrama wrote an ode to the Geek, titled 'Superhero'. Bad silly lyrics, bad unrelated music and hence - baaaad ode. That voice could sing better songs, though. No wonder HDHD calls them Paricrummy.

He’s no less than a super hero
Can’t make him fall
Ones and zeroes, threes and fours
But not that bad a guy after all.
Ugh.

Oh, here's why -
Microsoft Chairman and Chief Software Architect, Bill Gates, launches the next generation of integrated computing platform - Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server 2005, and BizTalk Server 2006 in India on December 9, 2005. Joining in the celebration is the Indian Rock band – Parikrama with a rock song just for our Indian developers. Called `Superhero' the song is about the life of a programmer. I suggest you ignore that last line. There's a lot more you can listen to if you want to rock. Try this. The third song is a personal favourite. Bye the bye, I picked up the Zero album (Procrastrination) at the Fringe Fest. Fairly good (the album, not the fest).

About Parikrama - I 'd heard them perform at Lady Irwin College a month or so ago. Given the lack of a discerning audience (LIR was full of screaming girls who danced bhangra steps to 'Another Brick' and 'We will rock you', and didn't know Floyd from Zep), Parikrama got away with a sub-par performance. Boring song selection too. If this had been Bombay, they would have received middle finger salutes, bottle of water and BC-MC chants. Bombay isn't a forgiving audience. I also got the feeling that they were trying to waste time and stretch songs unnecessarily. Most irritating was the way they assumed 'God mode' on stage, in sharp contrast to Mattias IA Eklundh at the Jazz Utsav.

agrees... it's possibly their worst song till date, heard it last year at the Kala Ghoda fest where they performed... hate it most.
